🌟Lessons Learned in 2024

laura61976

This year has been a journey of incredible highs and challenging lows. Life as a solopreneur, much like life itself, comes in waves—some exhilarating, others humbling. Through it all, I’ve learned so much, but here are the three lessons that shaped me most in 2024:

1. Patience: Growth Happens Beneath the Surface

I’m not a naturally patient person. I’ve lived much of my life wanting results now. But building a business has taught me that success doesn’t always show up when you expect it—or how you expect it.

At a conference, I learned about the Chinese bamboo tree, and its story stuck with me: Despite years of consistent watering and care, nothing seems to happen—until, suddenly, after five years, the tree grows over 100 feet in just weeks. During those years of "nothing," a vast root system is growing beneath the surface, preparing for explosive growth.

This story became my metaphor for entrepreneurship. Every call, every connection, every small effort—these are the seeds I’ve nurtured. And while the growth might not always be visible, it’s happening. Patience pays off. Not giving up pays off. Growth is coming.

2. Belief: Trust the Process

A wise friend once told me, “If you want to see God crack up, tell Him your plan.” That hit home this year. Things didn’t always go “my way,” and I often had to pause, take a step back, and reflect on what I already had.

The truth is, my life is already abundant. I didn’t need “more”; I needed to embrace what was already in front of me. Once I let go of the pressure to control every outcome, opportunities began flowing in.

When my sister asked, “What if it doesn’t work?” I never let myself go there. I’ve always believed it would work—and that faith in God, in myself, and in my clients has been my anchor. Belief is a superpower.

 3. Relationships: You Can’t Do This Alone

Even as a solopreneur, I’ve learned this year that solo doesn’t mean alone. God works through the people around us, and I’ve been blessed by the relationships I’ve built and rekindled.

These connections have filled my cup and inspired me. They’ve pointed out strengths I couldn’t see in myself, encouraged me to keep going, and reminded me of the impact my work has on others. To my clients, my friends, and my family—you know who you are. Thank you.

The Power of Intention

In 2023, my word of the year was Belief. This year, it was Connection. It’s amazing what manifests when we set clear intentions. The opportunities that have come my way in Career Transition and Executive Leadership Coaching have been beyond anything I could have imagined.

Your Turn: What Did 2024 Teach You?

I’d love to hear about the lessons you’ve learned this year. Take a moment to reflect and share your top three insights.
