Recently, I had an eye-opening conversation with friends about satisfaction.
By definition, satisfaction is the fulfillment of one's wants, expectations, or needs.
I posed a question to the group: “What does satisfaction look like to you?”
Here's what I heard:
✨ Most shared what they were striving for—a new job, a promotion, higher sales, more money.
✨Only a couple reflected on what they had already achieved—earning a promotion, making meaningful contributions, enjoying a good income.
This led to a deeper truth: Most people believe satisfaction lies in the future.
"I'll be satisfied when…” I get the next promotion, I land their dream job, I reach the next income milestone.
But here's the key: When they achieve that thing, they rarely stop to savor it. Instead, they move on to the next goal, endlessly chasing, yet never fully feeling satisfied.
Sound familiar?
Here's the shift: True career or job satisfaction starts by acknowledging the wants, needs, and goals you've already fulfilled.
Take a moment to reflect on your hard-earned achievements.
Recognize the abundance you've already created.
Pause. Appreciate all of it.
This doesn't mean you stop striving for more. It means you set goals from a place of abundance—not scarcity. When you recognize the fullness of your current success, you unlock the power to pursue growth inspired by possibility, not pressure.
So, I'll leave you with this question: In what ways are you already satisfied with your job or career?
Take a moment to celebrate your journey—your future self will thank you.
